Incense Holder Bowl – White (Matsu) – Shoyeido
A clean, white incense holder from Shoyeido in Kyoto. A stable, discreet accessory that safely holds Japanese incense sticks and elegantly collects the ashes - perfect for tea drinking, meditation and quiet evening relaxation.
Main features
- Minimalist design: matte-white appearance that blends harmoniously into any interior.
- Stable base: wide rim for a secure stand and a refined ash collection.
- Practical use: optimized for Japanese, bamboo coreless chopsticks.
- Heat-resistant ceramic: designed for everyday use.
Compatibility
The bowl is ideal for Japanese-style (coreless) incense sticks, such as Shoyeido's 13-14 cm sticks. If you are using thicker, bamboo-cored sticks, a separate adapter or incense ash is recommended to support the stick.
Use
- Light the end of the stick, then extinguish the flame so that it just glows (it is not proper to blow it out according to etiquette).
- Fix the stick in the center of the bowl (with an adapter or set in the ash), so that the ash falls into the bowl.
- Enjoy the scent in a well-ventilated area; remove the ashes dry after they have cooled.
Care and cleaning
- After use, carefully empty the cooled ash.
- Wipe with a soft, damp cloth if necessary; avoid abrasive products.
- For a longer lifespan, avoid thermal shock (e.g. pouring ice water on it).
Note: slight color and surface differences may occur due to manufacturing characteristics.

Personal contact
Our teas don't come from wholesale warehouses or unknown sources. We travel to the small producers we source from – whether it's a Japanese family tea garden, a Chinese mountain village or an oolong maker in Taiwan.
Stories
We meet them in person, learn their story, see how they care for their plants, and how they process the fresh leaves.
These experiences are the soul of our teas. This way, not only is the quality guaranteed, but also the fact that behind each cup there is a real person, a real story.

Direct
This direct relationship is valuable to us. Not only because of the excellent tea, but because we believe that trust, respect and personal presence are what make the tea drinking experience truly special.
