Brown clay gaiwan – white porcelain interior, 100 ml
A balanced gaiwan designed for everyday use: matte, dark brown clay on the outside, white porcelain glazed surface inside. Easy to use for gongfu (traditional, multiple pouring) preparation, ideal for 1–2 people.
Why is it a good choice?
- Pure flavor – the porcelain interior does not absorb aromas, can be used for a variety of teas.
- Stable grip – the matte clay exterior provides a pleasant, secure hold.
- Precise pouring – well-shaped rim and lid for clean, controlled pouring.
- It's also great for learning - a clear, reliable tool for both first-time gaiwan users and advanced users.
Usage tips
- Preheating: rinse with hot water to stabilize the temperature.
- Tip: hold the bowl from below and the lid from above, strain and pour slightly offset.
- Starting ratio: approx. 5 g tea / 100 ml water.
- Temperature and time: oolong/black 90–95 °C (starting at 10–20 seconds, then gradually increasing); green 75–85 °C; white 85–90 °C.
- Note on Japanese teas: due to the smaller leaves and quick infusion For Japanese teas, we recommend a kyusu pot.
Specification
- Capacity: approx. 100 ml (filled to the brim).
- Material: clay (outside, matte), inside white porcelain glaze.
- Design: cup + lid (+ possible coaster illustrated in the pictures).
Care
- Hand cleaning with lukewarm water and a soft sponge is recommended.
- Do not use on direct heat sources (flame, stovetop).
Each piece may be slightly unique due to natural variations in glaze and clay.

Personal contact
Our teas don't come from wholesale warehouses or unknown sources. We travel to the small producers we source from – whether it's a Japanese family tea garden, a Chinese mountain village or an oolong maker in Taiwan.
Stories
We meet them in person, learn their story, see how they care for their plants, and how they process the fresh leaves.
These experiences are the soul of our teas. This way, not only is the quality guaranteed, but also the fact that behind each cup there is a real person, a real story.

Direct
This direct relationship is valuable to us. Not only because of the excellent tea, but because we believe that trust, respect and personal presence are what make the tea drinking experience truly special.
