Brown Hohin Teapot - Tokoname
Precise and elegant, unglazed hohin teapot from the Tokoname region, Japan. Hand-rolled, silky-touch surface that gives fast, clean and controlled pouring. Ideal for everyday and premium Japanese teas; also a great choice for white teas and Taiwanese oolongs.
Why where?
- Grip and control: lugless design with precise, smooth casting – great for short casts.
- Unglazed surface: direct, "live" contact with the tea; especially beneficial for sensitive teas.
- Quick pouring: reduces the risk of over-pouring, gives more uniform cups.
What teas do we recommend?
- Japanese green teas: sencha, gyokuro, kabusecha, kukicha
- White teas: soft, clean extraction
- Taiwanese oolongs: fragrant, multi-pour teas
Usage – quick guide
- Rinse the kettle with hot water (preheating) and then pour it out.
- Add tea (guideline ratio: ~1 g / 50–70 ml , according to taste).
- Boil at the right temperature; work in short, controlled pours.
- Pour it completely into the cups – for an even taste.
Practical advice
- Do not wash in the dishwasher. Rinse with water after each tea ceremony and let dry completely.
- Do not put the lid back on the can until it is dry .
- Do not use detergent. Remove tea stains resulting from use with baking soda and water .
- Avoid sudden thermal shock (e.g. pouring ice water into a hot pot).
- Since it is unglazed, it is worth dedicating it to a particular type of tea to ensure the teapot's flavor is authentic.
Initiation
Before first use, rinse with hot water and let dry completely.
Origin and preparation
- Origin: Tokoname, Japan
- Finish: unglazed, hand-rolled ceramic
- Color: brown (natural clay color)
Note: Handmade piece; natural variations in shade and small details may occur.

Personal contact
Our teas don't come from wholesale warehouses or unknown sources. We travel to the small producers we source from – whether it's a Japanese family tea garden, a Chinese mountain village or an oolong maker in Taiwan.
Stories
We meet them in person, learn their story, see how they care for their plants, and how they process the fresh leaves.
These experiences are the soul of our teas. This way, not only is the quality guaranteed, but also the fact that behind each cup there is a real person, a real story.

Direct
This direct relationship is valuable to us. Not only because of the excellent tea, but because we believe that trust, respect and personal presence are what make the tea drinking experience truly special.
