Shen Shan Lao Shu - 2017 shu puer

“Shen Shan Lao Shu” means: deep mountain – old trees . This 2017 shu puer is a tea of ​​calmness with a clean, silky and friendly character. In the cup, a dark mahogany shade, an earthy-cocoa base, a date sweetness and a gentle, cedar-camphor coolness appear – with a long, smooth finish.

Recommended preparation

Asian (gongfu)

  • Tea/water: 5–6 g / 100 ml
  • Water: 95–98 °C
  • Rinse: quick rinse 3–5 seconds, then pour out
  • Pours: 10 s → 12 s → 15 s → 20 s → 25 s, then +5–10 s increments (8–10+ pours)
  • Tip: for an even creamier body, increase the tea to 7 g or use a clay pot.

West

  • Tea/water: 3 g / 300 ml
  • Water: 95°C
  • Soaking: 2:30–3:30 minutes (longer time = deeper chocolate notes)
  • Second cup: the leaves work nicely for another 3–4 minutes

Cold brew

  • Tea/water: 5 g / 500 ml filtered water
  • In the refrigerator: 8–10 hours
  • Result: a clean, sweet, chocolatey drink without bitterness

Pairing & occasion

  • Dark chocolate, date-nut cakes, semi-hard nut cheeses
  • Meditative tea drinking, evening relaxation, cooler days

Storage

Store in a dry, odorless place, protected from light. Store in a sealable bag or paper box; shu puer can age well.
