Shoujyu 松寿 Matcha – Tradition, harmony, freshness
“Shoujyu” means “longevity with pine” – the pine tree is a symbol of longevity and strength in Japan. This tea truly lives up to its name: it brings vitality, alertness and inner peace to your everyday life.
This premium quality matcha powder comes from the traditional tea growing region of Uji , and specifically from tea bushes grown on Yoshida Tea Farm . The tea leaves are hand-picked after being shaded, then carefully processed and ground using slow-rotating granite stone mills to a fine powder of 5–10 microns – this is how true ceremonial matcha is born.
Flavor profile
-
Aroma: fresh, green, slightly pumpkin seed
-
Taste: silky sweet, round, balanced
-
Aftertaste: slightly astringent finish, indicating the natural catechin content
-
Texture: smooth, foamable, bright green powder
Preparation suggestions
Usucha – thin matcha (for everyday rituals)
-
Tea powder: 1.5–2 g (approx. 2 chashaku)
-
Water: 60–90 ml, 75–85°C
-
Tip: colder water (65–70°C) gives a sweeter taste, warmer water (85°C) gives a more distinctive taste
-
Sift the powder, mix with water, then lather in “W” motions with a chasen bamboo brush
Koicha – thick matcha (for advanced users, for festive occasions)
-
Tea powder: 3–4 g
-
Water: 20–30 ml, approx. 75°C
-
Blend until smooth without foaming – the consistency is similar to melted chocolate
Tip against clumping:
Sift the powder first or mix it into a paste with a little cold water, then add the hot water. This will give you a silkier, more uniform matcha.
How to store it?
Matcha is sensitive to oxygen, heat and light – therefore:
-
Before opening: store in the refrigerator
-
After opening: for daily consumption, store in a cool, dark place.
-
Tip: if you take it out of the refrigerator, let it sit at room temperature for 1–2 hours before consuming.
-
It retains its best quality for about 7–8 months after opening.
Why is Shoujyu matcha special?
-
It comes from the Uji region , one of Japan's most famous traditional matcha "producing" regions
-
Yoshida tea farm : 16th generation, family farm, with traditional processing
-
Hand-picked, shaded leaves – high in chlorophyll and L-theanine
-
Ceremony quality – a real experience for everyday life
A cup that awakens the body and soothes the soul
Whether you sip it as a morning refresher or as a little ritual during the day, Shoujyu matcha is a true gift – its clarity and harmonious flavor will delight beginners and experienced tea drinkers alike.

Personal contact
Our teas don't come from wholesale warehouses or unknown sources. We travel to the small producers we source from – whether it's a Japanese family tea garden, a Chinese mountain village or an oolong maker in Taiwan.
Stories
We meet them in person, learn their story, see how they care for their plants, and how they process the fresh leaves.
These experiences are the soul of our teas. This way, not only is the quality guaranteed, but also the fact that behind each cup there is a real person, a real story.

Direct
This direct relationship is valuable to us. Not only because of the excellent tea, but because we believe that trust, respect and personal presence are what make the tea drinking experience truly special.
