Tokoname kyusu – black clay, side-handled jug (230 ml)
A black clay kyusu with side handles from Tokoname - one of Japan's legendary ceramic centers. The jug is made by disc rolling; its surface is beautiful, matte black, silky to the touch, and fits comfortably in the hand, providing a secure, controlled pour.
Why is it special?
- Side-handle ergonomics: comfortable grip and precise, drip-free pouring.
- Fine control: excellent for short infusions and sensitive teas.
- Neutral tool: tea leaves are applied cleanly; easy to clean.
- Tokoname crafts: the work of the famous Tokoname Isobe workshop.
What kind of teas do we recommend?
- For Japanese green teas (sencha, gyokuro, kabusecha, kukicha, etc.)
- For white teas – for clean, soft cups
- For Taiwanese oolongs – for fragrant, multi-pour preparation
Usage – quick guide
- Preheat the kettle with hot water, then pour it out.
- Add tea (guideline ratio: ~1 g / 50–70 ml , according to taste).
- Boil at the right temperature; work in short, controlled pours.
- Pour it completely into the cups – for an even taste.
Handling and cleaning
- Remove the tea leaves after each use and let them dry completely.
- Do not put the lid back on the can until it is dry.
- Do not use dishwashing detergent ; remove tea stains resulting from use with baking soda and water .

Personal contact
Our teas don't come from wholesale warehouses or unknown sources. We travel to the small producers we source from – whether it's a Japanese family tea garden, a Chinese mountain village or an oolong maker in Taiwan.
Stories
We meet them in person, learn their story, see how they care for their plants, and how they process the fresh leaves.
These experiences are the soul of our teas. This way, not only is the quality guaranteed, but also the fact that behind each cup there is a real person, a real story.

Direct
This direct relationship is valuable to us. Not only because of the excellent tea, but because we believe that trust, respect and personal presence are what make the tea drinking experience truly special.
