Keemun red tea 2021
Qimen, also known as Keemun, is one of the most well-known Chinese black teas in the Western world. It was often used as an ingredient in English breakfast tea mixes.
Our 2021 spring-harvested red tea is the result of a special year, the weather was really excellent in the area where this tea was grown.
Rich malty, slightly cocoa-like, sweet taste, long, aromatic tea. Pleasantly floral and woody at the same time.
The leaves were rolled into tiny snail-like shapes. It is one of the most famous teas in Anhui province, along with Lu An Gua Pian green tea. We visited the Anhui - Huangshan section in 2019. Then we tasted a lot of Keemun red tea, you can find a lot on the market. In the most secluded tea shop, we found really promising teas from good people. This is where our tea came from.
Huangshan is a famous Taoist mountain in China. If you've been to the region, it's worth visiting QiyunShan, which we also visited. There are fewer tourists and this mountain is also a really wild and captivating religious center.
To prepare the tea, use soft water with a low mineral content. The water temperature should be around 90 degrees, and tea can be brewed for a long time with quick infusions. It can also be prepared according to the Western tea-making method, so it is worth trying if your mornings are in a hurry, but you still want to start the day with a comprehensive and heart-warming experience.
