This Qing Xin oolong has a distinctive green, crisp, sweet aroma, with notes reminiscent of mountain flowers, which immediately enchants you and puts you in a good mood. It has a really rich, creamy texture, with a hint of sweetness, a hint of buttery green beans, Gyokuro aroma, which is made biscuity by the mild baking temperature, like a sweet, fresh cottage cheese strudel steaming on the table.

Are you stuck on how to choose from our teas?

Our Spring 2023 Qing Xin Oolong Meishan tea comes from a truly beautiful and promising growing area that was one of the first to grow higher mountain teas in Yunlin County.
Meishan is located between Shan Lin Xi in the north and Alishan in the south, and was one of the first highland tea growing areas to be developed in Central Taiwan, long before Shan Lin Xi and Alishan.

Meishan Mountain is not as well known as the above two. We receive several teas from the tea producer MinHan. This 10% shows the degree of baking. There is a completely unroasted version of this tea, which I found on the website under the name Emerald, and a roasted version that, according to the producer, is 30% roasted. 🙂 This 10% baked tea is one of my favorites.

It has really vanilla biscuity, lentil aromas and flavors, with a touch of apricot jam, represented by the Meishan Mountain oolongs.

Meishan oolongs usually delight us with notes of citrus fruits and apples. But this year's crop is really special: it presents the taste buds with a thick, buttery character. In a cup of tea, the softness of butter and the harmony of scents go together.

We met Minhan and his wife back in 2016 and traveled to see them. I remember that the first tea I tasted from them was a Jin Xuan oolong, spring picking. As we got to know this young couple and their teas more and more, we knew for sure that they would be the supplier of our Taiwanese oolongs. The Minhans don't just make oolong, they also make red tea. This year, they made a really special one from the Qing Xin tea plant variant, which turned out to be very fruity and sweet and floral at the same time. You can watch it here.

For its preparation, use soft water with a low mineral content. The amount of tea should be 6-7 grams for a 150-200 ml device. Start the water temperature at 85-90 degrees and you can raise it continuously. The duration of the first pouring should be 1 minute.
